I agree that the story wrapped up a bit too neatly. I mean I hate when there are a bazillion threads left hanging but...yeah.

ALSO

You should read Amal el-Mohtar's book "The Honey Month" because it is beautiful, she was born in Canada and is of arabic descent

And only $3.99 for Kindle! Sold! The honey angle reminds me of one of the more exquisite diversions in Ian McDonald's The Dervish House.

I really liked it but it did not "knock my socks off" as it were.

To me, it seemed far too much like a lot of the fantasy produced by non-Muslims.

OTOH, at this year's WorldCon in Chicago, I heard him read some of his shorter works and those blew me away, so I may have been expecting too much from this book.
