I accept your argument.

I expect it will be McCain, though. Why the media likes him with his ANTI-media stance is confusing.

I agree on your analysis of the lower-polling candidates. Obviously, Thompson is a traitor to the media by daring to be Republican. They've done that before.

I was told after one of my Jimmy Kimmel Live! appearances that I needed to be quiet about being a conservative in Hollywood, since it would hurt my chances there if I didn't.

The media supports McCain just because they think he's the easiest one to beat. If he goes in, 10+% of the republican base just doesn't even attend the general election.

He also has the best, to the media, combination of lack of overt religious message combined with quiet support for socialism and the ability to gleefully cave to the Democrats on any issue they happen to bring up.

There's any number of McCain-&DemocratPartyLeader; bills out there to back that up.

As soon as the primaries are done, McCain will revert to Media Pariah.

(If it is McCain, I encourage all republicans to go to the polls and vote third party, if only to show the Republican strategists that we're not willing to let the party be redefined into McCain's party. If you can get enough votes in key races that he would have won those states with those votes, then they might really sit up and take notice, like they did in 1994 after Perot most assuredly cost Bush the election.)

McCain is 20 times better than Giuliani.

Possibly. I haven't decided on Giuliani yet, but I'm leaning third party there too. Huckabee is also a third-party vote for me. There aren't any that are 100% pro-2nd amendment in the running now, short of Ron Paul. Huckabee sounds pro-gun, but he wraps it in hunting, as does Romney.

I just activated this user icon, just for this discussion. :D

Giuliani is an anti-gun, pro-big govt, former dem, former I, RINO.

Vote for him if you're a sucker.

I certainly wouldn't vote for him in a primary. My primary choices are down to 1 now (Ron Paul.) I need to do more research on him to see if he has even the slightest chance of me voting for him in the general. Like I said, I'm leaning heavily no with what I know.

I've been told that he decreased the size of government in new york by a bit, and isn't the worst economically. He's anti gun which scares me, and is the main objection. His social position isn't a factor for me. If he doesn't clarify his gun control position change past "New york is different from the rest of the country" then it's a definite no. New york could use more honest citizens carrying guns, so if he sticks to that line he's obviously not really reformed.
