I do not believe the shooter was an outlier in terms of terrifying awful beliefs. I do, however, believe he was totally psychotic, meaning he was not in touch with reality (at least that's my understanding of the term, having discussed with various doctors whether I ever had a psychotic break or not). This is what I get anyway from the Times article that was my first exposure to the shooting.

"At one point, he set about to become a millionaire, planning a scheme to win the lottery and making several trips to Arizona, where he spent hundreds of dollars trying to win the Powerball jackpot." He also describes several incidents that others don't believe actually happened.
This seems like a delusional person to me.

What is a non-psychotic person's justification for the really disturbing beliefs and statements espoused on these forums? That's even more chilling to me.
