Radio, What's New?

So I've been pondering on the survival of radio. Everyone acknowledges it, or are at least remotely aware of its downward spiral. I think it's easier to swallow when you grow up downloading your music, or if you prefer visual interpretation of your audio favorites. Easier when you can skip to the next track. do you hear what's on the radio nowadays? i'd rather it die. (better to burn out than fade away)

how about a compromise? Here, for one. And there's tons more out there.

I think we all just have to roll with the changes. Like Joon said, there _is_ internet radio, which offers the same kind of surprise value (minus the commercials hopefully (but then I enjoy commercials)).

but then you can't listen to internet radio in your car.

i'm sure gonna miss those nostalgic moments when i'd tune in to some really sappy station playing the 80's and i'd suddenly find myself singing along to Air Supply or Peter Cetera (i.e., Glory of Love). ;P

I am well aware of internet and digital radio, people at the office are talking about the viability of these formats (i.e., is it sellable?)It just saddens me that radio (as we currently know it)will be gone in a few years. Radio's been here before. Remember when walkmans were introduced? I'm afraid this time though that there are far too many nails being pounded on the coffin.
