hahahaa!!! i always feel shy to take ppls photo... and then guity if i post it onto the internet... and i don't usually like to have my own photo taken... lol!
i must say im always so shy about taking pictures. thats why i hardly ever do. i love getting them, just not so much in the taking of. i say, use it how you want to use it. maybe if youre worried about posting pictures of people, do it under a friends cut? that way you dont have to worry about it all. itll be nice to see you back on here more often either way, if you do start to use it more again!:)
If you're being considerate (and covering your ass legally really) just mention when you take the picture "is it okay if this ends up in my portfolio/on my website?" if they say no, you still have a picture, but if they say yes then you've got their okay and don't have to feel guilty about it.
As for the livejournal thing, you could always just friend those entries so then the entire internet can't see them. Also keep in mind general internet safety precautions, like not saying anything specific about where the photo subjects live, and keeping those kinds of pictures out of it. Y'know? I don't think people these days are careful enough in that regard. It's not as drilled into people as it was when I started using the internet imo.
I like the new camera! How much optical zoom and megapixels does it have? (I bought a camera last summer, the Kodak z-160...and have not seen any cameras since which add up).
(As for the photo thing...I have calmed down on that since high school - though I am still a little on the I hate pictures of myself thing... Some people are just camera shy or enjoy the attention of making a big fuss of getting peeved because you took a photo, or something. And seriously BW: I understand about the posting photos part on your blog, but if you are writing about something that happened in your life write what you want. That's all there is to that, because it is your personal blog. If you are really that concerned just start using the first letter of the person's first name so that their identity is "protected" or whatever. That is my two cents :).)
