Interesting observation! I guess the year before that it was the year of the sparkly vampire, so zombie and robot seem a natural progression. I think?

Hmm, perhaps this will be the next 'thing'. Like our recent rash of vampire mania, the next will be half human half machine instead of half human half demon...

I don't think the vampire thing really spread, though -- it was all just Twilight. I think she's right... this year: robots! Like zombies, and pirates before, what with the Jack Sparrow and whatnot. (Although honestly, I don't think I saw any pop stars dressing as zombies or pirates recently. Unless MJ tributes count.)

I don't know if the zombie thing ever spread into the pop music zeitgeist, but it was certainly prevalent all over the fictional realm; the fact that there is YA romance zombie fiction out there that disturbs me to no end...

I haven't seen that? I must confess I've never been prone to paying much notice to Beyonce, beyond her guest appearances on the albums of artists I actually like :p According to a quick Google, it appears she worked with Mugler late '08/early '09, so that's still after Janelle's initial Metropolis EP, which I want to say was originally issued on her indie label in '06...? Anyway, I will definitely add her into the mix. Oh, and while we're on the subject of Mugler, didn't Lady Gaga wear some of his pieces also?
