Other people's noise

My duties as an employee have hindered my ability to transfer and edit tracks from my minidisc this week. However, I wouldn't have you come to myth's livejournal and not see any links which, when clicked, bring you interesting sound! That would simply not do. So, just for this week, let's all close our eyes and imagine that this is an MP3 blog ( Read more... )

!!!!!!!!!!!

Who the hell... you're awesome! Slowdive videos?!! So perfect, completely perfect. Also, yes, that Decemberists album is fantastic! In concert, they got the entire audience to do a loud rendition of getting eaten by a whale at the right moment. mmmm ...!!

AND that web comic newly tops the list.

grand!

thanks for the Decemberists rarities link. They're one of my favorite bands nowaday. hopefully in June I'll be able to return to Seattle at the Showbox (where I saw them in March)--Rilo Kiley and Built to Spill are playing consecutive nights. Man I'm indie. I didn't even try to be, it's just what I happen to love.

Re: Decemberists. On the Bus Mall, dude. Bus Mall. Though I will concede that the Mariner's Revenge was easily worth the price of admission. The end, where they just go nuts and kick the tempo through the roof? I was bouncing. Jesus.

Also, I saw Iron & Wine tonight in Nashville, and it was glorious.

The thing about the Decemberists is this: with "Her Majesty" they hit about .500 with me - I liked about half the songs, skipped the others. I thought they were going to be that kind of band, like a band that I sorta like most of the time. But Picaresque - it's just perfect, every damn song. I wasn't expecting that. It caught me off guard.

Did Iron & Wine have their banjo again? I miss the banjo.

It was actually a full band - Sam and Sarah, a drummer, a guitar/banjo/lap guitar guy, and another guy that played the congos for some songs. A lot of the older songs were redone for the band; incredibly layered, really great. And damn, they were really rocking out on the Woman King stuff.

Yeah, I've seen the full band - but the last show I went to, no one up there was playing the banjo. I was afraid they'd instituted some kind of no-banjo policy. Which would be a shame.
