Alexis, what is a MAZE procedure? I know about bypasses - my mom had one and I took care of her for 3 weeks afterwards. How long will he be in the hospital? Give him my best!!!

Dad asked them today and they told him that if he wants to go to an extended care facility for his cardiac rehab then he can expect to be sent there next week possibly. That if he intends to go directly home he can "expect to be there a while". So basically... I don't know. lol
I will pass along the message and will try to keep everyone updated.

Oh... and the MAZE. The MAZE is literally that. They route the veins and what not around your heart into a maze to help correct A-fib later. The doc says in a month or so that dad would go in for a Cardioversion (they stop and then restart your heart) to put it back into a sinus rhythm. It added about 20-30 minutes to the over all surgery and the dr said that unless your having a bypass anyway it is not something they would do just for A-fib but that it increases the chances of the cardioversion (and that is spelled correctly and is all one word so I don't know why my spell check is yelling at me. I even looked it up to be sure!) working later.

Dad got your gift and wanted me to pass along great thanks. It came at a time when it was much needed and will be used well. Our fire place we use to heat with in the winter to off set the cost of electricity and gas had a pipe inside the wall crack and we were able to repair it! He has been sick and is in the hospital again or he would have thanked you himself. He hopes to be able to come home in the next day or so but I don't know how well he will feel or if he will be online. He simply didn't know what to say and I told him to go with Thank you! LOL Hope you are well. Things here are busy to say the least. I am off to parent teacher conferences right now. Much love, Alexis and Dave
