George R.R. Martin, fucking really?

I've always kind of ignored George R. R. Martin because, until a few months ago, I'd never read anything by him. I knew of him as Author Who Hates Fanfiction and Gets Harassed by Readers to Write Faster

So, I don't actually know who Lorrie Moore is, and that made the review comment kind of intelligible. I haven't read Mr. Martin because I prefer to wait on series that might not finish in my lifetime, and because I was out of the country when he suddenly became popular. But that's the second thing this month that I've been assured I, being female, couldn't possibly enjoy. (The other was Sucker Punch, which did have flaws--but I'm a pretty big fan of epic CGI battles. So.)
