I don't especially like a lot of season 5 but I thought that season 1 to 5 was a complete story with an ending that made sense. While there were some great episodes in season 6 and 7 I just didn't feel like they really knew what to do with it - Kennedy being a classic example - they didn't want to leave Willow alone, they didn't want her to get involved with a man (which I'm happy with) but they couldn't manage to come up with a character that felt like she had a point besides being Willow's new partner.
Of course, for me, no season was as perfect as season 2. But then I'm not a huge Spike fan.
I agree that season 2 might have been the best one. It's hard for me to compare, because I feel like I watched those episodes so long ago!
I can see 1-5 being complete, with an ending that made sense, I suppose. It definitely felt like an ending. I guess I just like knowing, "But what happened after that?"
Season 5 was okay in my book, it's 6 and 7 that I really disliked. A few good episodes, but for the most part it felt like the whole tone of the series just changed a bit too much for me. That and the villains kinda sucked.
SO. One of the things I love most about Buffy (this is terrible) is that we're the same age. When she graduated? *I graduated*. And when all the girls became slayers? Yeah, that's when I graduated from college. Almost the same weekend, actually.
