Yeah, me too. I'm all hot in the face and I want to kick something to pieces.
I don't want to say "That's it, the show's over" but... shit, pretty much, that's it, the show's over, unless they've hired someone at least as amazing as him who can actually put up with the shit.
And he wasn't fired - he walked. And will now develop new shows for NBC (probably for even more money, which he does deserve, but MY SHOOOOOOOOOW!). Because hey, what's a wound without a little salt?
Yeah, same, and I think that's why my chest feels all constricted... it feels like without him there's not even a hope of a Season 5, and that makes me so sad.
FUCK YOU BRYAN! That's my response. IMO he didn't make the contribution to the series that he could have done, aside from adding some 'Bryan Fuller presents Heroes, a Bryan Fuller production' moments.
I'd love to agree with you, but seasons 2 and 3.0 beg to differ. And I refuse to blame Jeph Loeb, Jesse Alexander, Michael Green, Chris Zatta, or any of the other writers who've been given their papers since season 1. SOMEBODY'S not holding the reins; SOMEBODY is not referring to their own show bibles; SOMEBODY is subsuming character in service to plot.
I'm not putting money on it. And in fact, without Fuller, I DON'T WANT A FIFTH SEASON. Unless they impress the FUCK out of me with season 4, I say let's just shake hands and end it here before it gets completely ridiculous. If they haven't got a solid enough grasp on their story for three seasons, why in the world would we assume they have enough for five?
I personally don't think Fuller was the be all and end all of the show, but given that he was trumpeted as the saving grace, the response will be merciless. Even if they do a fantastic job with S4, they won't get credit for it.
Jumping in to say that's what makes me so sad about this as well. It's not so much just Fuller's involvement per se, but the way that this is just going to unleash such a shitty response. The show has some problems, sure, but it seems to get such an disproportionately bad press and this will only fuel that, which sucks. :(
