Today, for the first time ever, I went and got my nails done - and my
word! Why has no-one ever told me what a wonderfully relaxing and peaceful

Really? I had mine done once, and it was a little bit excrutiating! She poked at my cuticles, and filed my nails!! That was horrible!!!! *shudder* Then there was the silly "massaging" of fingernails - I'm quite sure five seconds massage on each finger did bugger all - followed by slathering in moisturiser and having my hands stuck in heated polybags for ten minutes. Nah, not really my thing ;-)
