What can I say-- I associate New York irrevocably with Dee and Ryo!
Here in Canada, which incidentally, was the fourth country in the world to legalize gay marriage (*beams with pride*), I've met several gay married couples, all men. One pair is from Chile. They came here to get married and now they want to stay.
The odd thing is that I, personally, am not a big fan of the institution of marriage, at least not in its current form. And this in spite of being married myself. But I see this as a civil rights issue, and I understand that other people (not me) get emotional about the concept of marriage. If people want to get married, gay or straight, they should be allowed all the civil rights and protections that go with that state.
I hope that this will someday be a basic right in every country in the world, even Uganda.
You should beam with pride! Canada is light years ahead of the USA on this one. On the reasons to be proud of Canada, it even ranks higher than having the world's best flag and best national anthem.
O Canada! Our home and native land! True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise, The True North strong and free!
From far and wide, O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free! O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
PS- My great-grandmother was French-Canadian. I should start giving her higher billing when I list countries that my family hails from.
