Congrats on finishing the marking. Whoa. 44 hours. I don't think I have that much to do. That's good that you're *happy* to be getting back to the experiments. I'm in a state right now where I'm like "Crap. I have nothing left to do for the course, so I guess I have to do *real* work now." ;)

Yeah, I'm glad I'm done with marking. I do feel a bit like "I guess I'd better do some real work", mainly because I've got no excuse not to. Besides I have to show my face in the lab sometime (it's been about 6 weeks since I've done anything. Not that my suprvisor notices. I was away for two days, and when I pointed out that fact to him when I returned all he said was "really?".

I hear ya about Honours students. I never minded being the T.A. for the Honours Seminar classes, that was always kind of fun (even though correcting 20 theses in 2 weeks was never fun). But the students who used to try to work on my experiments with me in the lab? Gads, they sucked. I don't know what it is - maybe I just have too-high expectations, but how do these kids expect to go on to grad school if they a) can't take down decent notes on how to run an operant box setup, b) can't follow their own notes, and c) can barely think independently. It boggles.

And the equipment thing is well-known to me, too. We have only 1 working cryotome for 8 labs, so squeezing in a few hours here and there can get hairy, at times. So much for high-end facilities and equipment. Siiiigh.
