Smelling faintly of her father’s cologne, her mother’s perfume, and the indescribable essence of family, it was the only place she felt safe when the moon was invisible and the streetlights hidden behind thick shades of night.

That is an amazing detail. Every successful short fic like this has a detail like this... and this was particularly gripping.

I really liked this. Good work. :)

Ooo....sad!! Poor Nita. Sounds like she could REALLY use a hug. From Kit, from Dari, from her dad, from Tom and Carl.....maybe from the Champion.

That'd probably help her most. But it wouldn't hurt to get a hug from Peach, would it? I ment the Champion in the guise That Power wears at the very end of High Wizardry, not as Ronan. And family hugs (even Tom and Carl pretty much count as family, they're kinda like favorite uncles) are obvious. But, yeah, she REALLY needs a hug from Kit. Maybe even a kiss! *^_^*

All this talk of family and hugging and kissing has put me in a fluffy mood. I think I'll start something fluffy....
