The Eyes of the Beholder...

I once had a discussion with some friends about what makes some women attractive, and some women not, and what accounts for differences in taste between men. I was reminded of that discussion, when I recently came across this before 'n after shot of Pamela Anderson.

I like natural beauty myself. In fact I think most women are prettier without makeup. They're certainly more fun to kiss...

And it's not just happening to women these days. More and more men are turning themselves into hulking, steroid-ridden monstrosities out of a desire to be "perfect" (there's a great book out there called The Adonis Complex about it: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C4SZ7E/sr=8-1/qid=1142204046/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-8779863-7206536?%5Fencoding=UTF8 ). And in the cases of both genders, it usually begins with a desire to attract the opposite sex and winds up being a desire to meet one's own gender's ideal of beauty...

I feel the same way. My first wife, Kristine, is absolutely beautiful (still) and wears no makeup most of the time. She even did some modeling for Redken, after we were married.

As far as men getting that crazy about it... I do think that looking nice should be important, but I never expected men to get quite so topsy-turvy about it. But, then again, males (and not females) were the standard of beauty in Greco-Roman times. And in the court of Louis XVI, they dressed themselves up as such dainties that it is ridiculous today. I can see why a commoner, during those times, might've had some creeping desire to... y'know, off a few heads, storm the Bastille. Stuff like that.

Here are a couple of other, much older photos. The B&W one is from her high school yearbook, reportedly. Both show she was once a beauty... BEFORE.
