I recently came to the realization that I have free will. Or, at least, I'm assuming I do and recently felt for the first time that I had choices to make--I suddenly had what theorists call an internal locus of control. I felt empowered to make decisions rather than simply experience the consequences of what would invariably happen to me ( Read more... )

When it comes to this election, I see it like this: Behind one door, you will get shot. Behind the second door, you might get shot. If the difference between odds is 100% and less than 100%, I'm going to take the less than 100%.

I honestly want to retain my ideals and be politically involved, but am disillusioned by the entire process and the people who are corrupted by their ambitions.
Is there an answer?

If you ever get a chance, I recommend the book Culture Jam. The guy who does Ad Busters magazine wrote it.

Yes, thanks for the clarification, and my apologies for the ambiguity. I was referring to my behavior/reactions to things that happened in my life, not to the state of having been actually victimized. Perceiving things and responding as if I were a victim--I guess that's more accurate. Thanks for pointing that out.

As for your heart, I trust you found it in good condition and no worse for wear? If it's ever returned broken, I'll replace it with mine.
