I have found that the most effective way to prevent myself from descending into circular thinking is to keep active. Even the most menial of tasks provide a focus.

I know. I'd go chop more wood or something, but Zelda doesn't really want me leaving the Sanctuary unless I'm with the rest of the guard.

Well usually I go running with Roxas. Or I spar, but I don't think anyone's really awake for that and it's hard to drag people out into the cold for it. My arrows need replacing, and I've already sorted through the stuff Yuffie left behind, and I've already fixed everything on my memory wall and double checked on the goats and the chickenhouse is closer to Chez Nobody...Zelda's out with Prince on a walk tonight, I think.
