[The sun is lowering in the sky as River Tam steps out of one of the many shops along the main avenue in Luceti, her eyes sharp and piercing, yet at the same time dully reflecting the ruddy light from the sun in her two shining orbs of bloodied crystal

[Selphie's wandering aimlessly about the village, a tad lost in thought. She's not really paying attention to the blood on the streets or the fact that the street itself is awfully empty for the evening. She always saw people on the street as she slowly comes to a halt.

Then Selphie's noticing that the street is empty and she gets this sinking feeling in her stomach.]

Hello? Anybody around?

[Maybe it would be a good idea to head back home. Something didn't feel right to Selphie.]

[River is standing a few yards away... behind... Selphie.

As the young girl speaks up, River's eyes snap over and lock onto Selphie, blasting off from where she'd been standing, dripping with blood, she charges towards her next victim on silent feet, sword swinging]

[boomchucka]

[Selphie hears a rush of wind and looking towards River, she's pulling out her nunchaku at the last moment. Her green eyes narrowed as the SeeD slipped into a familiar battle stance. The perky brunette was not about to go down without a fight.]

[myowndrumbeat]

[Noting the weapon with calm certainty, River cracks her sword downwards in a vertical strike towards Selphie's head]

[boomchucka]

[Selphie just barely manages to miss the brunt of the attack as it grazes down the left side of her face and chops off a large lock of her hair. Frowning, Selphie flicks her wrist as part of her nunchaku sails toward the sword in an attempt to knock the weapon from the girls hand.]

Calm down! We don't have to do this!

[myowndrumbeat]

[River swiftly twirls her sword like a baton-carrier, her sword slapping Selphie's nunchaku away from their trajectory.

As she counters, her foot snaps out to kick in Selphie's knee-cap, going for the low debilitating hit]

[boomchucka]

[Selphie's thrown off-center before she's giving a startled yelp as she's kicked in the knee-cap. She falls down hard on the affected knee before her fists are balling up and aiming a punch at the girl's gut.]

That hurt!

[myowndrumbeat]

[River dances back swiftly, her free hand coming down to smack the incoming fist aside.

She stands a few feet away, "at the ready"]

[boomchucka]

[Selphie's glaring up at her attacker. Just what the hell is going on here?

Leaning heavily on the uninjured knee before aiming a kick/punch combo at River.]

[myowndrumbeat]

[River steps forward and simply thrusts her sword forward, it doesn't matter if she's hit, the sword being propelled in such a way that if Selphie didn't block or dodge, it would just keep moving forward into her stomach]

[boomchucka]

[Selphie barely manages to dodge the blow as it barely misses her stomach. However, she'll be downed quickly as the sword rips through her left side, barely missing any vital organs.

A red blot appears on Selphie's shirt as she stares down and watches it grow. A hand pressing to her side, she'll attempt to stop the bleeding before falling over to one side.]

H-help...

[River looks down at the girl, unreadable emotions flickering across her face]

It begins. [And just as suddenly as she came, she turns and leaves. For the girl bleeding out her life in the road, she shows no obvious notice or concern for.]
