When she came back from break Nicole rearranged the living room. It is a habit of hers to rearrange furniture, as with many people. I just happened to like this couch's previous location.
It would be possible (and awesome) to get a floor lamp with multiple bulbs and have it plugged into one of the outlets that is controlled by the switch as you come into the living room (and to move Foster's mini fridge off of that outlet), and then - tada! living room lighting. But barring that, it's easy to move Sonia's couch back. I just needed to move the furniture in order to clean (our living room was gross), and also it gets hella cold by the window in the living room since the storm treatment is falling off. But as I said, it's easy to move the couch back, the living room just probably won't feel quite as cozy as it does to me at this point (but it shouldn't really matter how I want the living room arranged, since I spend most of my time cloistered in my room or not in the house).
-If you know someone who does good repairs/alterations in the area, it might be worth it to have professional look at your skirt. There may not be much they can, do, either, but they may have some idea or be able to do something that's not horribly obvious. (I ripped up my best pair of black pants on the front, the lady at the dry cleaners patched up so well you have to look really close to see the stitches. If you're willing to wait to fix it til you're back in HP, the lady at Golden Touch does a good job, and in my experience, is pretty honest about what she can't do.)
-Dude, moving furniture around? Other people's furniture? That they use to work on? And it's a HABIT? I'd say something, and it wouldn't necessarily be nice. That's not acceptable roommate behavior. (And you weren't even present/consulted? Does she own the place or pay extra rent or something? Because otherwise I see no justification for that, and even then.)
When she lived in the dorms last year she rearranged her room several times. Some people like rearranging furniture and she is one of them. There is no inherent problem with that (especially since the reason she moved the furniture around in the living room was to get to the floor so she could clean it).
The living room is a public space and people use the couches pretty interchangeably, except for me. :3 So, I don't really care what happens to the rest of the living room, I just had set that space up as my workspace. We all pay the same "rent" to Vassar, since it's senior housing run by the college.
Poor soniabun! :( She needs cookies and soymilk and hugs. :(
I agree with snarky. A professional will probably be your best bet to getting your skirt fixed in the cleanest way. Also, if you come to pittsburgh, I will take you skirt shopping and get you tons of cute skirts. :)
Congrats on getting in to UPenn! That's amazing and you're amazing, and wow!

... but why would they move the couch?

(Perhaps a lamp would be a compromise?)
