I know a lot of you people are web designers, desktop publishers, graphic artists, or otherwise far more talented than I am with graphic design. So, I beg your assistance by sharing your superior knowledge with me. I'm trying to design a new business card for the new year, something to carry in my ditty bag and spread around, hoping to find some ( Read more... )

I attended a seminar by a tv producer last summer, who also stressed a visual business card to get attention, and was lucky to get his- In essence, the simpler and unique and to the point was better... nice to see that you also are realizing how powerful it can be.

With the photos you have on the card, in the first, with a quick glance- I get the wrong impression... I assume that the card is for someone who works with agriculture, the other, perhaps in city government. Is there an image that you have of you holding one of the cameras - or film related - that can be stylized by a friend who does good photoshop work (but doesn't overdo it?)

This is just my opinion, glad that you are getting different opinions as possible. I can email you a scan of my own biz card if you want to see where I'm coming from, that I worked on for awhile.

I unfortunately don't have any photos of myself with the cameras, nor would I really want a photo of myself with the camera. I personally don't care for business cards with people's own photos on them, despite the obvious marketing benefit it will give.

I'd like to see your card, if you want to email it to me? Just use the email on my profile page to send it. I have some other ideas for a card, but I am thinking of just ordering some cards ASAP so I have them.

There doesn't seem to be an email address on your profile page- so here's a link to my card design, primarily using the concepts from the seminar attended: basically, (1) putting services you offer first, name/contact next to last- and (2) dominating the card with an image that is pretty blatant as to what you can offer, if possible. So far, people seem to like the card, but I can't say that it's gotten me a job...yet. So, this is just one idea of my biases...

My two cents mistressdeath January 28 2008, 18:06:22 UTC
In either I would go with a different text color. I like the second photo better, too. Also, it might just be my computer, but it looks like the letters are outlined, and I think that color combination/most color combinations would look better without an outline. With the smaller type, it seems the most noticeable. The first line, with the larger font, looks okay with it.
