At Last! - Merlin S1 and S2 Blanket Rewind

For the three weeks or so I've been sucked into the world of Merlin. And for this I must thank a few of my flisters, who have watched them and extolled the show's virtues (and vices) so what else can I do but to go along with the flow?

[My first time using the spoiler tag. Does this work? Spoilers for both season.]

I agree.

About the Merlin/Freya episode: The thing that annoyed me about that episode - or, well, didn't annoy me, but I thought said something odd about Merlin (even if it was just due to poor writing) - was that Freya and Merlin RARELY talk. Merlin talks AT Freya, and basically decides that he loves her and that she is absolutely wonderful, but you don't see anything from her end that really supports this. Merlin falls in love the idea of her and doesn't really give a minute to get a word in edgewise to prove him right or wrong. It's a weird dynamic.

That being said, I agree that Merlin crying when they kiss was heartbreaking and REALLY well done. That's the thing with this show - the acting talent is there, it's just that the writing/directing isn't always up to snuff. There's a ton of potential, I think that's what's appealing about the show - the potential of it.

I agree. I noticed at the end that Freya didn't say that she loved him, only that the he made her feel loved. As you said, maybe Merlin loves the idea of her, or loving her, but didn't really think this through. It's very idealistic, and this is weird considering that he is quite grounded most of the time.

Yes, we're always attracted to potentials, but to go with it we need the patience and the ability to not question on them too much, I guess LOL
