I also loved the sort-of friendly rivalry between Atem and Bakura though that wasn't clearly stated.
During my reading, some things kept intriguing me. What did the dying soldier from the beginning mean by "What…can one do," he said, the words so faint they barely carried on the breeze, "when there is nothing left to do?" I'm really curious. =P
And wow, Bakura... How does always manage to escape from your victims' retribution for all the thiefts and murders? He really was good at his job...
Also, I couldn't help wondering what would happen next to Akunadin. He did a whole village's genocide, and tried to pin this crime onto the Pharaoh in front of everyone! I have like the impression he won't be regarded in the same say after that.
Anyway, I enjoyed this one-shot! I look forward to your next one! =)

To answer your questions, the dying soldier was basically telling Bakura, "Well, if you're the GREATEST, there's nothing else left to do," implying that he'll never be the "greatest" as long as he still has challenges/as long as there are still things to steal. If that makes sense xD
(And the bit about Bakura repeatedly persuading Atem to delay his execution was a "Thousand and One Nights" reference xD I tried to make this story sound like an authentic tale in comparison to some of the storylines found there =D)
And about Akunadin, of course! xD What happened to him in canon? He is most definitely not going to get away with any of it, if they weighed his heart it'd break the Scales. xDD
Thanks again for commenting! =D
