Those purple noodles are awesome! I'll have to go to the local 99 Ranch Market and see if they have them here! Do you get those okinawan sweet potatoes there, too? I can't remember seeing them at the Japanese grocery, although I forgot to look specifically for them. Do they taste like regular sweet potatoes? I dislike sweet potatoes, but nevertheless, they are SO purple, I've just got to try them!
Yes, I got the purple sweet potatoes (also called Okinawa yams, although sweet potatoes are not yams) at 99 Ranch. They have yellowish skins. They taste somewhere between an orange sweet potato and a russet, same as a Japanese sweet potato, but they don't have the slightly spicy tasting skin that Japanese sweet potatoes do.
