You definitely have a point about the female characters. It's a pity, because otherwise it was SO good. And I think I know what the preachy scene is - it definitely bothered me too.

I know! I really really really love this book, but a part of me thinks, "is it okay to like this when it has this flaw?", but for the most part I guess I suppose I was also sort of resigned, like I expected that for one agenda to be promoted another one will be shot down, or something.

The preachy part... that bothered me a little more than the female characters thing, because at least a part of me was expected the treatment of females in the book.
