WHAT IS A 'BLOG CREW'?
A blog crew is like a game. A person makes codes, sets the rules, and then the users who want to participate 'claim' those codes. After you claim something, the poster will put you on the 'claim list'. Then you are free to copy the code you claimed and put it on your own journal, thus expressing your love for the character you have claimed.
HOW DO I KNOW WHICH CHARACTERS I CAN CLAIM?
There is often (but not always) a limit on how many characters you can claim and how many characters may be claimed in general. Claiming is usually done on the 'first come, first served' basis, so you have to hurry up before the character you want is snatched up!
The basic and first rule of a blog crew sounds like this: ? claims per user; ?? number of users per claim
? - is the number of claims you can make
?? - means how many times each character can be claimed
HOW DO I MAKE A CLAIM?
01.) Think of a character(s) you want to claim
02.) Read the rules
03.) If there is a limited number of claims, check the Claims List in the blog crew post (labeled 'CLAIMS') to see if the character you want still can be claimed
04.) Comment and say which character(s) you want to claim
05.) Wait for your claim to be approved
MY CLAIM HAS BEEN APPROVED, WHAT NOW?
01.) Copy the code you have claimed from the textbox* (some blog crews require that you upload the sprite codes on your own server, such as Photobucket, Imageshack, Tinypic, etc.)
02.) Paste the code where you want (usually on your journal or on your profile page)

HOW DO I PUT THE CODE ON MY PROFILE PAGE?
01.) Copy the code you've claimed from the textbox.
02.) Click 'Post' (like you are about to post a new entry to your journal)
03.) Paste the code to your new entry, but make sure the entry is in HTML mode and NOT Rich Text mode. Likewise, keep the box labeled 'Disable Auto Formatting' UNCHECKED. Neglecting to do so will turn your pretty code into a jumble of HTML, which you do not want.
04.) Replace the words "claimhere" in the code with the name of your claim.
05.) Open 'Edit Profile' in a new tab
06.) Find the 'Bio' box and paste your code there
07.) Scroll down → Save changes
