Tell me if this should be different~telmeitsnotrealSeptember 28 2011, 17:59:24 UTC
...What had that been? Emily's heart would have been pounding... If it was still beating at all.
The Corpse Bride of The Land of the Dead had been waiting for something like this to happen, ever since she'd first had plans to elope... And everything had gone wrong.
Second chances didn't happen very often...
With now idea of how ominous she looked, Emily rose.
It's excellente, honey! :DmygiantblueheadSeptember 28 2011, 18:33:20 UTC
Gustave felt the ground around him begin to tremble and frowned, scrambling to his feet.
"What in the...?" he mumbled. Was it an earthquake? Here, in this boring corner of the world that was untouched by such natural events? Or could it be a landslide? But there was no incline around here...
Then he saw... something emerging from the ground, like... Well...
Like the dead rising.
A scream was catching in his throat even then - Gustave would admit, if only to himself, that he wasn't always courageous, although he would spin it as having the brains to get out of a dangerous situation - but when he saw what was coming out of the ground...
Gustave wanted to run, knew he ought to run, but sheer shock and terror kept him rooted to the spot, as if the very trees themselves were conspiring to keep him there, at the mercy of...
A woman? A... A corpse woman? A corpse bride?
The scream escaped from Gustave then, high-pitched as a girl's.
She was speaking to him! She was conscious - sentient - and...
Dear?
"...What?" Gustave gasped, his legs finally unfreezing enough for him to take a few steps backwards, although horrified fascination kept him from bolting.
"You--your--I--what?" Her new husband? What did she mean? All he'd done was put the ring on a branch!
A... Finger-like branch. Very close to where...
"...What are you talking about?" he whispered, eyes widening with horror.

'Jumpy, isn't he?' a voice in her head pointed out. Emily scowled.
"Now stop that. That's no way to talk to my new husband."
