Despite what some people believed, it didn't contradict any of the other games

Uh, of course it did. In the same ways that Vampire contradicted Werewolf and Mage and Wraith and FaeChangeling and itself repeatedly[1]

*ZERO* White Wolf games worked with any other White Wolf games without contradiction. And most of them didn't even work with their own expansions. Despite obstensibly being all "the same system" and "the same world".

The only way to make crossovers work the way the world said crossovers should work was to convert all the other worlds into the setting you were using and IGNORE the rulebooks for that setting.

[1]: Gotta love a setting where, after the first few books that established "you cannot feed the beast ever or you will lose control", they introduced an entire faction devoted to "you must feed the beast always or you will lose control. And by the way, losing control means you keep control. That's not contradictory at all. We've only just completely invalidated our own premises."
