aw thanks for reading! I know what you mean so many of these ladies sound amazing and I hope to get to some of these books like a lot of the ones you wrote about!

yay! So I'm not the only one who was deprived of Deep Valley as a young girl. I think you'd also be interested in Mitali Perkins blog etc, she is just wonderful.

The first book reminded me of THG for a second, simply because the character makes a great sacrifice for her sister, like Katniss.

yes but in this case it's a little sister sacrificing for her older sister which I love as the baby of the family. :)

You made me curious about both of these! I've wanted to read the Betsy-Tacy books since they had all of that promotion (that turned you off of them, lol, but it was how I heard about them) so I think I will try and read them in like 2016 when I finish A Suitable Boy, lol.

As a reader, it's both tremendously disappointing and also rewarding. If that makes ANY SENSE AT ALL.

You should definitely read them! They are really charming and delightful and would probably be a fun thing to read after ASB, assuming ASB is heavy.
