Peter's phone had drifted in and out of service on the drive back to New York City. Once he'd gotten there he was so focused on getting to the hospital to try and save Hiro that he didn't check his voicemail until after he realized the man had disappeared. "I was starting to get used to it," Sasha admitted quietly, focusing on reading his reaction while he looked over her chart. She'd already had all of this spelled out for her. It was scary, but everyone was more optimistic than she was. They threw encouraging facts at her and tried to tell her that she'd become a happy statistic or something. She was tuning it out. "What happened to you?"

"Love you too," Sasha nodded. "Annette said they might release me in a few hours, but I'll have to stay on bed rest after that." If anything said how she was currently doing emotionally, it was the fact that she wasn't arguing or complaining about having to lay down for the next few weeks. "I haven't seen her in about half an hour, though."

Peter was worried about that but also glad that she wasn't fighting it. "Do you want me to go find her?"

Sasha shook her head. "I want you to stay here and tell me about your day."

"I can do that," Peter nodded. He settled against her. "Noah and I found this kid that can heal but his power goes both ways. He can give life and he can take it. He'd accidentally killed his family, gotten mad and touched them. Noah and I went to talk to him. I think he's going to be okay."

"He killed his family?" she looked up at him, surprised. "I don't think he's ever going to be okay."

"No," Peter agreed. "But he thought he had lost the ability to heal anyone. He thought all he was capable of was killing other people. Now he knows that's not true. He's got a chance at least."

"I hate that these powers can turn on people," she sighed, thinking about the boy and Peter, and Lexie. "What happens if she gets one of the bad ones?"

Peter put his hand on Sasha's belly very softly. "Then we help her deal with it. This kid had no idea what to do with what he had. He had no one to talk to. He had no one to help him. Lexie will have us. Always."

"You don't know that," she replied, a little uncertain as to whether or not she should continue. "You chase after trouble and I...I'm me."

Peter looked up at her and half smiled. "And if anything happens, we call Claire. We'll make sure that she doesn't have to grow up without someone that knows how to help her."

"Okay," Sasha echoed with a nod, trying to be as confident as Peter was. "I just want her to be okay."

"Me too," Peter agreed. "She will be. I knew her in the future, remember?" He knew the future was malleable and anything they did now might have already changed that future but he thought t was worth mentioning. It might comfort her.

"If this had happened in your future, don't you think you would have warned me about it?" Sasha asked. She'd thought of it plenty of times today, but it seemed weird that he wouldn't let her know if he could.

"Maybe," Peter admitted. "But you weren't pregnant yet so maybe I didn't see any reason to warn you. Or maybe I knew there was nothing you could do so there was no point in warning you."

"But maybe this wasn't supposed to happen and it did," she answered, covering a yawn. "You should check on Henry soon."
