Okay, updated poll...sorry guys

After reading the rules and regulations about the entering the photo into the contest, I found that if the photo has a date in it it won't be taken. So, as the picture of the lilly has a date marked on it, it wouldn't be accepted. I could A) reproduce that picture or B) submit a different picture. I did take one I like better, but it's up to ye'all ( Read more... )

I like the look of the yellow and green on the grey steps.

i was gonna mention the date thing before. I'd say reshoot it.. or photoshop out the date if you've got that skill lol

i don't like the yellow flower pic because it's too cluttered. there are random greens from another plant, and the watering can. the angle of the steps and plant kind of clash.

you could rearrange the yellow one to look better though. i suggest a front-view instead of a top view.. that way you'd have the stairs as a kind of shelf. and the grey works with the color. you could even have that water jug next to it or something

btw... i'm no photog expert lol. but i kinda have a natural eye for a good composition

Thanks for your input. But I must admit that I don't have the skill to photoshop out the date, or the photoshop to do it either. I'll work on reproducing the picture.

I think the bright splash of yellow on the steps is surprising and quite nice. I don't see the other elements as intrusive and they don't detract from the central colors, but rather enhance them. It looks like the only vibrant living thing in contrast to the drabness of the surroundings.

Why not Photoshop out the date?

Main reason: no photoshop, and I don't know how.

Do you have to print out the photo or send in a digital image? You could always cut that part off or take it again and hope everything is exactly the same (light, conditions, etc.).

Originally I was going to crop the date out, but then when I had it on the computer I realized that would screw up the whole pic. I just have to wait for a sunny day and I should be able to retake it. Plus, I know more about my camera now, so it probably be even prettier
