My story has been deleted...

HarryPotterfanfiction.com has deleted Exquisite Irony. It's a sad, sad day. I think it may have been removed because of the three, 3!! smut scenes (which, I might add, were edited down to fit the rating and had been mod-approved because I talked it over with the mods ad nauseum so I wouldn't be violating any posting rules). So I redirected all my ( Read more... )

exquisite irony, fic news, deletion, plagarist

HPfanfic.com was the first fan fiction site I ever visited, and it was there that I embraced DM/GW,and found your story. If I'm not mistaken I believe there was a link to the FIA on your author page at HPFF, well once I found FIA, I left HPFF behind. I spend my time at FIA and Ashwinder (I'm a newly converted HG/SS shipper), I love my Slytherin men! LOL!
Back to your fic, of course they don't want you to post there, most of the stuff there seems very teen-fan-girly written, I'm not knocking the fluffy stuff, but I like well written fluffy stuff...and besides, Draco doesn't seem fluffy to me at all...okay, I'm going off on a tangent, let me reign it in, it's completely their loss, although it does annoy me that they took this long to make an issue from it.

Funny you should say that, because I started off in the fandom much the same way - I read Dragonsangel68's story 'Dragon and Angel' there, and she encouraged me to post my fic and introduced me (sort of) to FIA and now FIA is definitely my primary fanfic archive. I was already reading at FIA, but it really became my main archive after I started posting. And because I love reading smutfic and FIA is sprinkled liberally with some of the best D/G smut fic in the UNIVERSE! *huggles archive again* I think it is definitely 'show FIA the LOVE' day! LOL

You are right - most of the stuff on HPFF IS fangirly and teenage and 'OMG Draco would look so hot in a Muscle Tee!!11!!Eleventy!' (Nod to Mynuet's assertion on in-text Authors notes there)

And yes, it is annoying that it took so long - I bet I've lost my trusted author queue-skipping privileges too - even though when I posted the smut my work was still being read and reviewed by the admins. Fucking anal retentives.

No thank Mynuet - she said it first (more or less)! LOL

This is the quote from her memorable Essay on the 'Irritations in fanfic submissions':

"...Put in an author's note at the top or at the bottom if you absolutely need to, but if you've got a phrase like "Draco put on his white t-shirt (like a muscle shirt - Draco would look so hot in that! *drool*)" in your fic, you're doing a piss-poor job of writing..."

*dies laughing* How many times have we seen those? Vexy was a case in point. How did it go? 'You were wearing: [insert stupid catwalk picture here]' *ROFLMAO*

I'm so sorry, honey. I know exactly what you're going through *huggles* The mods at HPFF are just idiots, they've no idea what constitutes NC17 material and as for links, why on earth would they care? Who's going to sue them? They're not responsible for material on other sites. They're a bunch of prudes who have no business running an archive.

FIA is a much better site :)

*huggles*

I know. It's a pain in the arse. S'weird they took so long about it though - I mean I haven't updated Ex Ir in AGES (yes, I KNOW you are all waiting patiently! LOL). The last thing I posted was 'Tomorrow' Which is allowed, apparently. And before that, it was 'Merry Christmas Draco' which is so eye-bleedingly fluffy it ought to have a warning all it's own! Ha ha ha

But you know what. It IS their loss. I'll post vanilla shit there and nothing else. I never read there anymore anyway because, as bellasol67 said, it's all teenage fangirl crap.

WE LOVE FIA!!!

It doesn't make sense that they took so long about it. I don't understand how they operate and really don't care to anymore. I threw a real tanty and I don't post anything there, I had my account deleted ;P

I don't read there because of all the teenage fangirl crap *scratches eyes out* In fact I'm becoming a bit of a snob, the only places I read are lj and FIA ;)

*GO FIA*

You threw a Tantrum and had your account deleted? REALLY? Cool. *snerks* What was it about? Remind me.

Don't worry about being a fanfic snob, I'm one too - LJ and FIA are pretty much the only places I read too. Teenage fangirl crap is so awful it degrades and cheapens the entire experience.

Yeah, that sucks. They're pretty harsh on not using the proper rating, or on linking to things they deem as 'inappropriate'. I recently posted my latest piece (The Prodigal Son, which I had written for the D/G Fic Exchange), and in my mind, I equated it to another fic I'd written that I had rated 15+ because I don't think it's all that naughty.

Well, HPFF did. They did not approve it (according to their e-mail) "for one of the following 17 reasons." So I upped the rating and resubmitted it with every warning under the sun, and then it went live. *shrug*

There seems to be a younger crowd over there than at other sites. I've got stuff I don't dare post over there; they'd can me for sure!!

Ha ha ha - I know - I've got twice as many stories on FIA as I have on HPFF simply because they are rabidly smutty! LOL

It bites though because all the smut scenes were read and approved by the mods on duty - I didn't get my queue-skipping privileges until waaaaaaaaaay later. So it's a bit of a bummer. I reckon some anal retentive arsefuck shopped me to the mods.

thats stupid....
As you say it is their loss.. after all your fic complied with the rating...
I left hpff quite long ago... it wasnt worth it

Yeah - I no long read fic there because as bellasol67 said, it's all a bunch of fangirly-written crap. Vexy is a prime example of this.
