so remember how almost four months ago now, there was a fire, sandor freaked, lost most of his worldly possessions, et cetera? well since then linds and i have been working on a thread between him and bert wherein he tells bert about how he got burned, and bert asks (is about to ask, lol) sandor to be the one to test him for his guns when he's ready-- which, for those not drowning in stephen king canon, is a Big Fucking Deal. essentially the would-be gunslinger chooses any weapon except a gun to fight his teacher, and if he can make the teacher yield, he wins his guns; if not, he's exiled. well, on TR there's no real exile to send someone to, so bert's gonna be asking his friend to try and kill him if he can. >.>;;; it's really amazing, one of the most important threads sandor's ever done. the link is here for those who wanna follow along at home. :D

YES, THIS. I just-- so often we work hard on a thread that takes a while, and gets buried in the game. We can't repost it because it's already IN the main community (and we're honest folk who don't want to take credit twice for something), but we want to shout to the world OMG LOOK AT THE AWESOME. Or the crazy, or the sexy, or the whatever. And we shouldn't wait for someone else to pimp it, when we think it's awesome.

SO SHED THAT SKIN. I want to know when you write a crazy-awesome House thread, since I don't get to read a whole lot of them. So the next time it's something you're proud of, post away!!! XD

It started in, oh, 2004 (because there needed to be backstory) when Mitchell's F-302 went down in Antarctica, then here back in December 2008, then hit February, creeped into March, with a smattering of awkward cliffdiving, and has wound up with an in progress thread here.

And I love every thread between these two. Yusagi and I have taken such care with crafting a believable backstory that works within the Gate!canon (and fills in the might have been that nearly was) that the nuances of it, I think, have left both Mitchell and Lam with subtle layers of texture that seriously enhance them in totally unexpected and new ways. Every thread (with pretty much anyone now, not just Mitchell, though he seems to be the primary catalyst) brings to life some new facet that I hadn't thought about -- her devotion to team, how she's not coping with the Island, how she's dealing with the loss of the SGC, her people, her family, and her life ( ... )
