It's been a long, long time since we've posted this meme, although people still periodically do it of their own volition. Since it's so great for character-building, I say it's high time we officially redo it.

Five Things You Should Know About Guy Burgess (If You Were At All Interested In Knowing Anything About The Spy)

1) Cricket It is a cardinal sin to enjoy the inherently smug game. It was once said or referred to and everyone took it as law. But I do. I just do. It is the combination of features. The virginal white uniforms, the endearing caps, and occasional striped vest against the cold. The moving of bodies when pitching, batting and running the 22 yards in a sudden outburst of energy. Admittedly all very enjoyable, but I cannot claim to only like the game for sake of gawking. There is something charming about the ridiculous length of the game and the pauses for lunch and tea, always mixed with an air of colonial snobbism and the suspensions during or at the faintest prospect of rain - for the virginal white attire may not be tarnished. It’s in their construct beauty and in the thrill of taking a car to the limits of its power. Whether an open car or one with a cap, nothing feels quite like the speed of miles of road underneath the wheels. So yes, he enjoys fast cars; he was given an edition of the Autocar when he was nine and he hasn’t missed an issue since. It isn’t an obsession, but a healthy enthralment.

5) Gossip The trick isn’t to be able to keep a secret, just to keep the right secret from the right people and ( ... )

The best part about it is that it is an absolutely true story. It's definitely one of my favourites as well, together with the true story of how Guy got send back to England. Which they changed in the series for which I shall not forgive them. Or maybe I shall. For casting such fine actors...
