I see that Ice by Vladimir Sorokin is now available in English. Unfortunately, The New York Times doesn't make it sound very appealing.

Whoa... GenSec slash... that is... yeah. Trauma inducing for sure.

I should probably know who this Sorokin guy is, but his name (or the titles) doesn't ring a bell. Am rather curious to learn what the title "Goluboe Salo" refers to, though... It sounds at first like a fairly random noun-adjective combination, and the more I try to think of what it could possibly mean... the less I really want to know. O.o

That's some good Brezhnev/Andropov! but actually Khurschev/Brezhnev is my GenSec OTP. (Well, no... if I had a Soviet RPS OTP it would doubtlessly involve General Zhukov in some way, possibly as Stalin/Zhukov.)

Actually, I should really not have started down this path, because now I've inadvertently recollected that when I was 11, a friend of mine and I spontaneously evolved and role-played Reagan/Gorbachev slash over one summer (I was Reagan) -- I kid you not.

Thanks (I think...?) for the link -- apparently it's got the actual Russian texts in full, so now I can expose myself to the GenSec slash spiritual trauma for real.

Believe it or not, I was going to add at the end of my previous comment that if real fun was to be had, it should be down the Reagan/Gorbachev path, but I thought there'd been enough deviance for the day! I can't believe--and at eleven, too!--you and a friend actually wrote just that! What I wouldn't give to read those writings! LOL

Hey! Not fair that you get to read Sorokin! Let me know how it is . . . if you can still function afterwards. (And yes. You might want to have the brain-bleach handy for that.)

Oh! By the way, I think a Zhukov pairing would be great. What about Zhukov/Beria? That way Zhukov could be all tormented when he has to betray his one true love and arrest him at gunpoint. *snerks*
