I've just been thinking that I might turn my office into a kind of sacred space. I never actually use it as I can't get Internet on my desktop computer which means I use my laptop in the living room. I'd love to have a space where I can keep all my special things and where I can go when I need some quiet and thinking space. Atm there is work stuff ( Read more... )

I don't think you should worry about dabbling in things, you should just do what feels helpful to you :)

As far as cleansing a space goes, I would do a good physical clean first with the windows open, and then move on to the energetic stuff like cleansing with sage (you should be able to pick this up at any crystal/new agey type shop) or incense. Sound is also good- clapping your hands, or pinging tingshas (little cymbals attached to each other by strings) is something I like to do. Whatever you believe about energy, I think the most important part of this is the fact that you're mentally and physically setting up a space for a particular purpose and mentally removing its old associations. I would then put any objects that appeal to you in it. What I like about this sort of space is how it builds up associations/energy over time, as you spend time in it and add stuff to it :)

I think it's a great idea! gave you a great response so I don't have much more to add. If it were my space, I would add lots of pillows and colorful blankets. Use it as a reading space for self-improvement books, or use it to focus on your breathing (the easiest way to do this is to focus on the tip of your nose, and feel the cool air as you breathe in and warm air as you breathe out), meditate, and journal. Put anything in there that makes you smile.
