How old is too old?

I have a bunch of older MLS balms that I haven't used in a while. The thing is that some of them still smell quite good and strong, despite being from spring of 2007 and late summer of 2006.

Are these too old to be using? I know that the "FAQs" section of the website says the balms have a year shelf life... It's just that the balms still seem to ( Read more... )

what everyone else said! hahah

You'll for sure know when they get too old to use. It's a texture and scent change that really makes using them unbearable. I liken it to a glue-stick in both texture and scent!

So if you think they are ok -- then they are.

The "about a year" shelf life is under normal use, meaning in and out of warm pant pockets & using it regularly.
If they sit in a even temperature place (or better yet in a cool place- the fridge is best!) they will last much longer.

If & if you are worried about bacteria - it's always going to be on the very end of the balm where it came in contact with your lips (& saliva) - so you can always take a tissue and wipe a little off the top.

& the remelt trick that was mentioned works great to give your balms a kickstart. It can make the scent come back stronger and fix most texture issues too (& as a plus it also kills any bacteria present).

:)
