June 24, 2009 Mel stared at the computer screen and tilted her head to one side. The knot was back and she just wanted to finish this file. Why had she volunteered to condense all the spreadsheets? Letting out a small groan, Mel was just about to lift her head when a hand on her neck made her smile.
"Whatcha doin'," Rick whispered, leaning down to push her hair over her ear. Mel turned her head a bit more but didn't open her eyes.
"I'm trying to distract myself so that I don't have to finish this," she said quietly. As Rick got closer, Mel smiled as she felt his breath on her neck, then his lips. He smiled as the muscles in her neck twitched.
"I can help you with that," he mumbled.
"Really?" she almost laughed. "What'd you have in mind?" Rick's fingers moved from her neck and slowly - and lightly - trailed down her arm, stopping at her wrist. Taking her hand, Rick pulled her up and to him. Mel smiled as Rick started walking backwards toward the couch.
She squeaked as he pulled her down on top of him. Rick sighed and gave her a cheeky grin. "Hi." Mel planted her hands on either side of him and pushed herself up so that her face was directly over his, then kissed him rather passionately.
"Hi," she replied once the need for air won out. Rick's thumbs were already hooked under the hem of her shirt and pulling it up, while Mel leaned down to kiss his neck. Giving up, rather quickly, Mel turned her head and caught Rick's lips again.
Rick sat up, pushing her with him, and she sat on his knees. As he pulled her shirt up and over her head, Mel bit her lip and grinned, then grabbed at the hem of his shirt. "I like the way you think, sir." Rick's hands resumed running up and down her sides as soon as he was relieved of his own shirt. He started to pull Mel back down, pressing kisses along the trim of her bra.
Ducking down, Mel pushed Rick back and caught his mouth with hers once more. His arms wrapped around her, pulling her closer to him and her own hands rested on his shoulder blades, trying to pull him closer. Half a second later, the phone rang.
Mel groaned as Rick continued to place kisses to every part of her within reach. "Ignore it," he mumbled as his hands pulled at the straps of her bra.
"I can't," she breathed and pulled back. Reaching over the back of the couch, Mel had to stretch to get the handset. Ignoring her task, Rick tugged on the button of her jeans and she laughed. "Hello?" she said into the handset after pressing the Call button.
"Uh huh," she said as Rick kissed her stomach, along her ribs and then turned his attention back to her collarbone. "No," she said into the phone, closing her eyes as his fingers grazed along her ribs. "Mmm," she sort of said, and even she wasn't sure if it was in response to Rick or the call.
Clapping a hand to his shoulder, her eyes went wide and she gave him a look which got him to grin like a Cheshire Cat. "Yes, Mom," she said pointedly, "I'm listening." Rick snorted and immediately covered his mouth. Mel mimicked slapping him and raised an eyebrow as she pulled away from him and the couch.
"Uh huh," she said again, throwing a look over her shoulder. Rick leaned back against the couch, throwing his arms over his head and simply watched her with a smirk. Mel turned back and Rick took his chance, jumping up and throwing his arms around her, pulling her tight against him. "No," she said, a bit more sharply than she'd intended to answer her mother.
"Mom, can you hang on one second?" Nodding slightly, Mel held the phone away and turned to Rick with a look of murder in her eyes. "I will kill you," she mouthed and his response was to give her a literal breath-taking kiss. Mel had to blink a few times just to regain her balance - and get rid of the stars - and she pulled the phone back.
"Sorry, Mom," she said with an exasperated sigh, "multi-tasking," she said giving Rick a glare as he stepped around her. His response was simply to catch the button on her jeans again and he yanked her pants down. Mel, naturally, jumped a mile but managed to keep her mouth shut. "No, Mom, I'm going to have to check the calendar on that one," she said, trying to stay calm. He was so dead. Rick moved back around her and began kissing her neck again. The stars came back.
Oddly, there were certain words in existence that, no matter what was happening, could snap a person back into reality in an instant. And her mother had just picked a whopper.
Mel jerked back and pushed Rick's hand away from her stomach. "No, no, Mom-" she started and squeezed Rick's hand. Letting out a deep sigh, Mel let her head fall forward and forced a smile. "Hi, Grams."
"I told you not to answer it," Rick whispered into her ear. She didn't need to look at him to know he was smiling.
"Yes, ma'am," she nodded and leaned back, resting her head against his shoulder. Rick smiled and pressed a kiss to the side of her head. "Okay," she nodded a moment later. "Yep... bye." Rick was about to say something when Mel winced.
"Yeah, Mom." Rick rolled his eyes and began pressing his nose into her shoulder. "Mom? Can I call you back? I'm right in the middle of a work thing and- Yeah." Mel nodded a few times and let out a breath. "Yes. Okay. You, too." With a flourish, she held the handset up and pressed the End button. Feeling Rick's fingers on her waist, Mel tried not to smile as she turned around, phone still in her hand.
"You son of a bi-" she managed to get out before Rick interrupted, once again covering her mouth with his. Rick pulled the phone from her hand and dropped it to the counter before he picked her up. As her legs wrapped around his waist, Mel shook her head.
"Well, that has to put me on a straight line to Hell."
