I obviously have a favorite Bowie. (Though we watched the Ziggy Stardust concert film last night, which was... interesting.)

It's neat, yeah!

He was on American Idol or whatever--I had to look him up after I found the fic "genre" because I didn't remember. He's cute and out and wears makeup, so the fandom/fic make sense, it's just... that name should be reserved for cooler stuff.

And you have a point. It's not just Gary Glitter--who I never hear anyone talking about, really, at least not over here--it's that what was shocking back then got absorbed into more mainstream stuff so 80s metal looks a lot like glam, you know?

Bowie is distracting me too much with his fascinating eyes!!!

but i concur with you if David have no sex that must be a crime!!

i hope his amazingly beautiful wife makes him happy because if not we can do a commando team and go to him in offering ourselves!!

About Bowie it was always said that he is bi, and that in the beginning of his matrimony that they have an open relationship to invite people in...
because really a super monogamy arrangement with those beautiful people must be really difficult too many people offering company
but their marriage had being there for several years so they must be happy i hope

Do not get me started on glitter-rock. glamourcorpse November 29 2010, 20:49:28 UTC
Thank gods no, but I haven't looked out in the fic world in years. WTF. Adam is not remotely glam. He's pop. Glamrock/Glitterrock has a sound and a feel that while, tarted up at times (kitsch etc) is not just image. This group is probably 10-23 year olds.

More Bowie sex is always good, but I'm firmly a Bolan/Harley fan, in a platonic way. They are the cutest rock buddies EVER. My friend likes Bolan/Bowie hate/angry sex, but I'll stick to adorable coked up TV watching and Shakespeare fan-boying.

The whole things amuses me though because maybe Reed (he's bi yeah) and Jobraith (gay) and well...maybe Renaton Zero (???) Most glam guys are straight. Heh.

Oh, I know. I mean, I can't even really figure out how the Lambert stuff got the name, but I also feel that my grumbling is invalid on two levels: 1) I just sound like a curmudgeon ("oh let me tell you about boys wearing makeup, sonny!") and 2) I'm not in the fandom that "should" be called (something like) glamRPF. I just keep seeing it and it trips me up every time.

I've never even read any Glamrock/Glitterrock fic. But it just seems so ripe. And anyway, people not being gay or bi has never stopped people from writing fic, even rpf.

Curmudgeon away anytime. I love it.

"I'm not in the fandom that "should" be called (something like) glamRPF."

RPF in general freaks me out, so me neither.

RPF slash is usually just as oogie as RPF straight up to me. Unless everyone involved is dead, then it is just hilarious. (uh, not recent;y dead I mean....)

Yeah, I don't have that thing that makes it oogie, so... sorry for the past year or so?

I think the solution is David Bowie/Adam Lambert fic, clearly.

>>>Has anyone else encountered the phrase "GlamRPF" in their fandom travels and been really disappointed that it's not David Bowie/Iggy Pop/Marc Bolan/Lou Reed?

Another one here.
I mean, I like Lambert, but when I think about glam rock, he's far from being even the *third* thing on my mind.
