Alaska photos, day one

Here's the first batch of Alaska photos, corresponding to day one of my diary. I'm overwhelmed by how many there are (1,337, seriously), so I'm going to take it a little slow and hopefully be a little conservative about what I post.

Side note: this is the first trip shot with my new Canon XTi. Thoughts? I haven't adjusted any of them.

Possibly. They look great on my computer, but crap on my eee pc. No, that's not quite it. The first four look good to me, but the sheep and the train had troublesome lighting.

There are more to come. It really was extraordinarily beautiful. If you get a chance to go while you live here, do. As Betty and Paul say, "the scenery certainly is lovely to look at... if you like scenery!"
