It so happens I did this at work today, so I happen to know that I've seen 62/80. And yes, winning an Oscar does not mean that was the best picture of the year.
I'm not saying none of them deserved it. Several of my favorites are on that list. I'm not even saying I disliked all of them or think they're bad movies. But Best Movie of the Year? Rocky? The Sting? C'mon, it was the 70's! Do you know how many utterly brilliant films came out then?
