Argento's POTO and some pretty funny links

Jan 17, 2008 10:21

First of all, anyone with an interest in Phantom of the Opera should run right over to tkp's journal and read her thinky thots on Dario Argento's version. It may come as a surprise, but I really love this one. Most of what I love about it is enumerated in her list. I know a lot of POTO people avoid this film on principal ("He's not even ugly! Well, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about Ms. D. They can't come to any real decisions on any of the revisions yet.

I wonder about this profession sometimes. heh

I wonder about it daily. Because I'm in school. And it's mind-numbingly stupid.

I have had that one on my netflix forever--after reading that me thinks I must bump it up on the list. Along with POP lest you kill me...

I won't kill you. But I *do* think that phans reject lots of POTO films at first blush because they're so unlike canon or ALW. I know I had lots of WTF moments the first time I saw this one. But years later, I can appreciate it because I'm no longer simply interested in prolonging the emotional vibe I got from the story as a teenager. Now I can look at them and pick out what's ultimately interesting about each version.

My poor old writer's brain just explodes when I see too many versions. If I got through the week of Englund's vs Dance... I can get through anything.

Maybe it can be some warped drinking game--every time you see a rat...

You'd be drunk by the credits, I think.

I know what you mean. There are times I have to stay away from POTO interpretations. I'm back out of that right now.

Ah, Argento's Phantom. My thoughts are divided but I love many things about it. *runs to check it out*

Also if I did it correctly, you should have unmoderated access to phantomfans now.

Who doesn't love Argento? It's by far one of the most entertaining versions of POTO there is. Rats! Tiny ballet tarts in leg warmers! Fat Carlotta! IT'S GOLD!

(By the bye, I'm still waiting for you to write me up some Argento!Phanfiction that you promised me ages and ages ago.) *sniff*

I know! The legwarmers! I forgot about those. So. Awesome. Carlotta's breasts!

(I totally forgot!!! For shame! Wre you more specific?)

I can't rightly remember the specifics. I just remember on my old Susanna Foster post that we started bemoaning the fact that there wasn't any 1943 fanfiction to be had, which then led to something along the lines of, "OMG! WHERE IS ALL THE ARGENTO FANFICTION AS WELL!?!?!"

Personally, if you're up for it, I'd like to see an E/R/R/C/C phic from you. (Erik, Rats, Raoul, Christine, Carlotta). That would be cracktastic, and I'd lust after you openly and shamelessly.

*lusts*
