Kiku hadn't heard the other come in. He hadn't even felt his presense there before he had been nudged against. And somehow in his anguish, as he looked at the somehow humanoid-looking Poochi-kun, couldn't find it odd. Maybe it was the tears bluring his vision. Maybe it was the utter chaos his mind was in. Maybe his culture had just gotten him used to it.
Whatever the reason, all he managed to do was sob louder and wrap his thin, shaking arms around the form of the only person that really loved him and always would.
Poochi-kun whimpered again and nudged his cheek with his nose. "Wh-what's wrong? Nihon...." His tail moved between his legs as he shifted to move closer and tentatively return the hug. He'd seen Japan's reaction to physical contact before but this was different, surely.
