It had been almost a week since she'd been released; rescued. She doesn't remember the first day, or the second.
In fact, she really only remembers a small part of the third.
The pain was beyond excruciating. There wasn't even a word in their vocabulary to convey how much everything hurt.
The softest touch to her skin burned; the dimmest candle was blinding; the lightest padding of bare feet on the floor sounded like an explosion.
She couldn't eat yet, or drink.
But, to know she was out of that iron box... just to be out...
It was worth it.
