Comments: I can’t take it if I’m not able to write anything within this week. I know I’m busy but... So, okay, here is a drabble inspired by sitting on a bench in Yamashita Park while I waited for the tour goods booth to open. Hopefully chapters for my two other fics would be finished next week. Yay~

-Told in the observer’s POV-

I grew up in Yokohama that is why I am used to going here in Yamashita Park every now and then. When I was little, my mom would bring me here at least once a month. In the morning, she would prepare some food, my favorite would be her onigiri and pack them in a basket. We would go down our apartment and walk a few minutes until we reached the park. We would sit on a bench together, sometimes we talk sometimes we didn’t but we would both watch the sea.

Because I was a kid, I was too young to appreciate that kind of mother-and-child bonding. Of course I would rather stay inside our house and watch TV or play video games. I’m not saying that I did not enjoy, I just enjoyed it for the wrong reason which was, I get to eat some special treats especially made by her.

When I entered high school, the occasion that we’d visit the park did not just decline but stopped entirely. I was older so a stroll in a park was not appealing anymore. Instead, I raided the malls, watched a movie or loitered in a café together with my friends. I only went here sometimes to meet my boyfriend.

And now, I’m back after long years of absence studying abroad. Four years had gone by and there were so many changes. There were more buildings than before and I had to check if I was treading the same streets. I really thought I’d get lost. I am just so glad to see old Yamashita and old Kenmin still the same.

Sitting on my favorite bench, I did not forget where it was, I watched the different people walking by. Some of them spent a second to glance my way while others did not even notice my existence. Now I realize the importance of those bonding sessions with my mom. Sometimes it was nice to come here alone but it was always better if you have someone with you. But anyway, it was okay. I just missed the times.

I looked on my right and spotted a blond haired guy wearing a pair of cool shades riding a skateboard going by my direction. His speed was slow and careful, like it was his first time to be on a board with wheels. He was followed closely by a dark haired man whose eyes were glued to the phone he was holding.

The blond was moving smoothly on the concrete but before he got to pass by my bench, his skateboard veered to the left. The change was minimal and he quickly regained control. To my surprise though, the dark haired guy instantly shut his phone, extending his left arm on the blond’s waist, steadying him firmly and protectively.

They stopped in front of me.

“Hey, I’m okay,” the blond said, patting the hand that held him.

“Yeah I know,” the other replied. He relaxed a little but made no efforts to let go of him. “It’s just my instinct.”

“Geesh. How can I learn like this?” he smiled, shaking his head. He adjusted his skateboard then pushed it gently using his right foot.

Even if he was fine again and moving steadily, the dark haired man’s hand never left him, not even when they were already several meters away and all I could see was their backs.

I could not help but feel a little envious. With that kind of closeness, I doubted that they were just friends. But oh well, I am happy for the both of them.

The next time I’m going here, I’ll make sure I’ll bring someone with me and I don’t care who.

Endnotes: Did you spot Aoi and Uruha? So, what do you think? Was it okay? Or crappy? Any comments would be appreciated. Just be kind in saying it okay...? *is sensitive ever since she moved* T_T
