The actions would not be very similar. In the former case (the genuine one), the behavior is very selfless and engaged in the subject at hand; it's such that she's almost impossible to offend; she wouldn't attempt to offend others; plus she'd be very precise about her decisions and actions; she would have an underlying reasoning for everything, whereas preserving sense of humor and overall condescension towards others.

In latter case (fake), she'd have to confirm her pride and independence whenever there's a possibility to do that, she'd react to every mildly offensive stuff by trying to fight back, she would expose a lot of arrogance.

The power is not in being able to stand up to people. The power is in being able to stand up to people, but instead be condescending towards them.

I don't see a scenario in which it would be necessary to re-confirm oneself. There is an awesome simple thing, and many ignore it. You don't have to impose, don't have to persuade, don't have to receive confirmations. Even if something happens because of you, you don't need to push justifications onto people, and try to look better in their eyes, or get any sort of affirmations from them. Unless you did something wrong, and you're apologizing, there is absolutely no reason to get confirmations. Leave people alone, and be strong enough to not care what they'll think, and, magically, they'll start thinking positive of you no matter what happened
