Aww, this is lovely -- as warm & inviting as James' pyjamas. I love your Sirius, so obviously shaken & scared, but hiding it with flippancy from the minute James opens the door.

This line was wonderful:

Screwing up all of his Gryffindor courage and pushing down all of the Gryffindor pride

This is gorgeous: a proper filling-in of canon. Their relationship is so free and supportive. Lovely.

This was lovely and quite hot, you should continue it.

I love this pairing. James/Sirius is so obvious as a pairing to me but you never, never see it. The bit in Snape's memory where it said that it looked like Sirius was probably the only person James would actually accommodate to, and the way later in life Sirius kept seeing James in Harry, how can people not see the love between them?

Anyway, I'm rambling. I'd love to see more of this story.

I agree with the previous poster about liking what you've done with Sirius's vulnerability--his walk through the rain, his self-consciousness in knocking at the door, his hesitation at asking James for a place to stay, even him not wanting to get the carpet wet--all are lovely little details that help us see a side of Sirius we don't often get to see.
