Two things.

We both voted yesterday. Yay absentee ballots.

Over in Ada county (Boise), they sent out a form to all the registered voters for absentee ballots and had a HUGE response. They said between the requests they got back and the normal turnout they may be looking at 80% turnout in Ada County.

As soon as this election is over I'm sending in another absentee ballot request. Here in Idaho you have to request one for each election which is amazingly annoying but at least now I'll be able to vote every time since half the time I don't even know we were voting until the evening news comes on.

Plus this way I got to sit down and research every choice and make a (hopefully) informed decision.

That is great about voter turnout. I hope it's true too. I am going to vote this weekend. You gotta love vote by mail here in Oregon although I do miss actually being able to go to the polls. I wonder if my kids get the signficance of voting when all I do is drop it in a mailbox. I remember my mother on voting day and it was a big deal. We would drive to the closest precinct and she would go in and there was a little booth she got to stand in. It instilled in me that it was an important event. I just hope my children are getting the same understanding when we drive in the car and drop it in the mailbox.
