Ian had his 18 month checkup to day and was in the 55% for weight (his chunks are gone..which I know healthy but still sad to see his babyness go away). And off the charts in height. No seriously he's 18 months old and 35 1/2 inches tall. I'm not kidding. They measured him twice. Yeah that's how tall Connor was at 2 years old. Connor is tall

That makes me think two things:

a) I really hope that at least one of our boys does not become the perfect storm of all of our genes or we will have a similarly endowed child. My dad was 6'4" and his shoulders were so broad that I couldn't reach around him; Will had an uncle in the NBA. Enough said.

b) A friend of a friend kept trying to tell her doctor that her baby would probably be really big, that her husband, at 6'2", was the smallest in his family. The doctor didn't believe her; the baby was over 11 pounds. And then her brother in laws came into the room one by one and she was like, "49ers, Packers, Broncos..." The doctor felt pretty silly.

LOL! Yeah doctors don't seem to listen. I tried to explain that both our families are tall with some of my brothers being freakishly tall (nothing more intimidating than a 6 ft 6 Marine I tell you what!) Plus Bruce's dad was 6 ft 3. Also big heads run in Bruce's family (every time Bruce's brother went up a rank in the National Guard he had to have his hats specially made), but they didn't believe that and made Ian have a head CT because they were CERTAIN something was wrong with him. Oh well, makes for a great story when he's older!

Yeah, they almost made us do the CT scan and I was like, "Seriously, let me measure the circumfirence (sp?) of my husband's head." They finally let me off and just said that we'd watch the growth chart to make sure she kept following it, and not growing bigger and bigger. And sure enough, she's still fine, big head and all!
