Oh, I definitely think so. 'The Pillars of the Earth' was the first of his books that I've read and I think it's his best by far, but I also liked most of his other historical novels from all the different times, most notably probably: 'A Dangerous Fortune' and 'Night Over Waters'. Not so much the ones that are set in the present, but then that's only my opinion of course.
In medieval settings there is of course always lots of intrigue and politics (as well as political intrigue) and some military, too. But not so much about recent politics. I don't know about his present/ future set novels though. For political thrillers set not too long ago (all in the 1940s, during and after WW II) try 'Triple', 'Key to Rebecca' or 'Eye of the Needle'.
I don't think I've ever read a military novel, can you give an example. Or would that be non-ficition? As for crime thrillers or such - there are just too many. But I like them, too.
